We’re thrilled to announce that Inis Oírr Beo, the mobile application developed right here on the island, has reached a major milestone! This achievement reflects the incredible support and enthusiasm of the Inis Oírr community and everyone who has engaged with the app, from residents to visitors.
A Heartfelt Thank You to the Community
When we first set out to create the Inis Oírr Beo app, our vision was simple but ambitious: to connect islanders and visitors, promote the Irish language, and unite the island under one digital platform. None of this would have been possible without the incredible contributions from local businesses, community groups, and, of course, the people of Inis Oírr. From sharing their stories, events, and products to engaging with the app daily, the community has made this app a living, breathing part of island life.

The Inis Oírr Beo app was designed with three core goals:
- Make it easy for everyone, whether a local or a visitor, to discover what’s happening on Inis Oírr.
- Promote the Irish language using modern technology through written and audio content.
- Develop a cohesive brand that represents the vibrant spirit of the island.
Now, it’s chock-full of pages dedicated to the island’s businesses, from cafes and shops to guesthouses and guided tours. You can find everything from opening times and product listings to photos and details of upcoming events. It’s as simple as scanning a QR code, browsing the island map, or checking the island calendar.
Answering Your Questions, Promoting Our Culture
Since its launch, the app has been a go-to resource for:
- Things to do on Inis Oírr
- Places to stay and eat
- Hidden gems and attractions around the island
We believe it’s also become a platform for sharing and preserving the Irish language, with content available in both written and audio formats to keep the island’s heritage alive and thriving.
